Infratek in brief

At Infratek we say we build, operate and secure critical infrastructure. By critical infrastructure we mean the basic physical installations and facilities without which modern societies cannot function. We contribute to this fundamental structure through our role as a supplier of products and services related to power distribution, fibre-optic networks, district heating, street lighting, railway systems, electrical safety and high-security technical solutions.

Infratek operates in the professional market. Our customers include a large number of major public and private sector enterprises. Infratek is headquartered in Oslo, and the Group’s 1,700 employees are based at more than 40 locations in Norway, Sweden and Finland. The Group is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Our vision is to deliver in accordance with our customers’ wishes, such that we become a leading Nordic player in the building, operation and securing of critical infrastructure.

A market-oriented organisation
The Local Infrastructure business area satisfies the need for a strong presence and effective logistics within the local infrastructure segment, which includes local electricity distribution grids, fibre-optic networks, railways, street lighting and district heating. The Central Infrastructure business area facilitates the effective use of the Group’s mobile expertise in the field of high-voltage power grids, in order to participate in the investment growth which national grid operators in the Nordic region have signalled their intention to undertake in the next few years. Achieving growth within the Nordic region is a goal for the Security business area. In 2011 Security ramped up its focus on core competences relating to technical services.

In 2010 Infratek changed its operating and financial structure in order to raise the profile of Infratek’s capacity and expertise aimed at various types of critical infrastructure, in particular the central power grid in the Nordic region. This has also helped to boost groupwide Nordic collaboration. During 2011 Central Infrastructure was reorganised into a Nordic organisation. Local Infrastructure is also currently reorganising its operations, including to accommodate a focus on the Swedish railway segment. The Security business area will continue in its present form as adopted in 2009.

Nordic leader
Infratek is currently the leading player in the Nordic market for products and services within critical infrastructure. Based on the Group’s vision, Infratek’s goal is to achieve further growth across the Nordic region, both organic and structural.

Leveraging our in-house expertise and flexibility will be critical if we are to achieve the targets we have set. Infratek’s employees are the company’s most important resource. We will recruit further skilled employees in 2012 in connection with new assignments and to satisfy our growth ambitions within the central grid. With leading specialist expertise within technical services and a focus on internal expertise development and ongoing training, we will work to attract highly qualified personnel. At the same time we will aim to identify structural opportunities that can provide us with access to further relevant expertise and new markets.
